Cupid must be sad...

Today, for some reason, i found myself thinking of a friend of mine that i haven't seen for a year or so. i've known him for quite a while, though we are not close friends but we are good friends; he's on a relationship, and i think he is very lucky to have a boyfriend like the one he has. The reason? His boyfriend is not ugly, though he is not prince charming (yes, for your information, i have met this guy), he's a nice person, he has money but he is not rich, he has a car, and most importantly, he is so in love of my friend.

Recently i have been told the sad part of this story. Another friend of us told me that my friend doesn't love him with the same intensity, for he took advantage of his boyfriend, he asks him to buy him stuff, asks him to take him, or pick him from partys where he meets other guys and cheats on his boyfriend.

His boyfriend is in some way aware of this, and 'allows' it to happen, why? is the question. The reason is that he loves him too much, and he doesn't want to loose him. On my personal oppinion, this shouldn't be allowed by the nature, i know that we all like to be pampered, but that's not a reason to abuse of the kindness of the one who love us. To be in a relationship mean to give love in exchange of nothing, means not to recieve things and pay with love. This reminds me a question wich answer allow us to know if we are ready to love someone, this appears in a book from Erick Fromm. If you can tell the difference, then you are ready. Which one is the correct?

"I love you because I need you"        or          "I need you because I love you"

If you chose the second one, then you are ready. If you chose the first one, then grow up and stop thinking of you and start thinking about your partner! Love is the most beautiful thing on earth, it's something worth living and fighting for.  Lets keep it that way.
